Inspired by the fervent, early morning prayers of a few dearly beloveds caught up on a misty Chinese mountain.
"Oh, but when they pray!
They will go that way,
In a blink, in an instant--
These almost-fully humans.
So close to tasting their fulfillment,
The drop of water just grazing the tongue,
The groaning's almost over and they know it,
About to burst from their sagged and
Bleeding body suits to put on the garments
Of righteousness.
And I with blurry eyes see something
Like sunbeams spilling over the sea's
Dark horizon at the crack of dawn--
I catch a glimpse of their resurrected glory."
